I am a Chester-based photography student currently studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma. I am interested in portraiture and studio-based work, especially creating striking, staged images with a strong sense of atmosphere and storytelling.
I am inspired by the diversity of photography and the way it can be used to either tell a story or capture a moment. I like that different photographers can respond to the same subject in completely different ways, showing their own perspective through the choices they make. In my own work, I often use studio lighting, coloured lighting, props and editing to create images that feel dreamlike, theatrical and carefully constructed.
Throughout my course, I have developed skills in studio photography, working with models, digital editing, location photography and using cameras, lenses, tripods and lighting. I have also experimented with techniques such as Rembrandt lighting, loop lighting, butterfly lighting and back lighting, choosing the style that best fits the mood I want to create.
Outside college, I have been involved in the Chester Watch Parades, which has given me experience of taking part in a community arts event and understanding how creative public events are organised, managed and produced. I have also helped photograph a conference, capturing speakers, audience reactions and general event moments in a live setting.
I am interested in gaining more experience in commercial studio photography shoots, where I can continue developing my skills in lighting, styling, editing and working to a brief.
